Whether you’re planning ahead while you’re still pregnant or already in the middle of those blurry first days with your baby, you do not have to have everything figured out yet.
A lot of parents picture newborn photos as one more thing to manage. Packing bags, timing naps perfectly, hoping the baby stays happy the whole time. It can start to feel overwhelming before the session even begins.
As a Macon newborn photographer and mom myself, I approach newborn sessions in a way that feels calm, flexible, and supportive from start to finish. Whether your session takes place at home, in studio, or outdoors, there’s room for feeding breaks, diaper changes, snuggles, and slowing down whenever needed.

Melissa goes the extra mile in a way that actually matters, especially in those newborn days."
Some babies sleep the whole session. Some want to be held the entire time. Some need breaks every few minutes.
That’s all completely normal.
The goal is not perfect poses or a perfectly calm session. It’s remembering the way this season felt while you were right in the middle of it. The tiny stretches, the heavy sleepy snuggles, and the way they fit against your chest right now.
A simple newborn session designed to keep things easy while making space for the moments that matter most.
A newborn session with more time, more flexibility, and space to slow things down when you need it.

She made us comfortable right away, kept everything calm, and guided us so nothing felt awkward or forced. The whole experience felt easy, and the photos look like us in the middle of this brand-new season.
"Melissa captured the beauty in those vulnerable moments."
Nursing felt raw, and I was running on empty. Melissa photographed our connection with so much care. Now I look back and see love and strength, not just the exhaustion
“From start to finish, our newborn session with Melissa felt calm and thoughtful."
She was professional in the best way, warm, prepared, and really attentive to our baby. And the photos we got back were honestly beautiful. We’re so glad we chose her.
Melissa has such a calm presence, which is exactly what we needed in those early newborn days
She never rushed us, followed our baby’s lead, and helped everything feel easy. And somehow, she noticed the little moments we didn’t even realize were happening.

You don’t need to be. Newborn sessions are built with healing bodies in mind. We keep movements minimal, sit when you need to sit, and take breaks as needed. You won’t be asked to push through discomfort or pose in ways that don’t feel good.
Then we work with that. Some of the most tender photos happen when parents are comforting a fussy baby. If baby truly won't settle, we reschedule. Simple as that.
I recommend reaching out while you’re still pregnant, usually around your second trimester. We’ll pencil in your due date and stay flexible with the actual session date based on baby’s arrival.
Yes! Booking early gives you more time to split payments into a schedule that works for you. We’ll set it up so everything feels easy and manageable.
I’ll help with styling every step of the way, including access to my client closet. Think soft neutrals, cozy textures, and outfits that feel like you. And no pressure to dress baby in anything fancy, simple wraps or onesies are perfect.
