Your family & motherhood photographer. As a mom of two boys and a fire wife, I know how quickly these moments pass. I’m here to help you hold onto them—just as they are.
Welcome back, mama! If you’ve tackled decluttering, stocking up, and meal prepping from Part 1 (if not, catch up here), you’re already setting yourself up for a smoother, less stressful newborn phase.
But we’re not done yet! Now, let’s focus on those little details that make a BIG difference—things you don’t think about until you’re holding a newborn at 2 AM, desperately wishing you had a dimmer light or an extra onesie right next to you.
As a mom of two, I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way!) what makes those first few weeks easier. Let’s dive into Part 2 of your 14-day newborn prep guide!
With my first baby, I constantly found myself trapped under a sleeping newborn with no burp cloth, a missing pacifier, or a diaper blowout situation (why do they always happen when you’re least prepared?!).
That’s when I learned about baby care baskets. These are simple grab-and-go kits you keep in key areas of the house so you’re not running to the nursery every 10 minutes.
💡 Mom Hack: Keep one in the living room, one in your bedroom, and one in the nursery. You’ll thank yourself later!
Okay, let’s talk about something that no one ever tells you—lighting makes a huge difference when you have a newborn.
Bright overhead lights? No, thank you.
Walking into a dark room at 2 AM? Also, no.
With my first baby, I didn’t think about lighting at all. But after one too many stumbling-in-the-dark diaper changes, I quickly learned that soft, warm lighting makes all the difference.
💡 Mom Tip: The right lighting doesn’t just help at night—it also makes your home feel cozy and calm, which can help both you and your baby relax.
📷 And bonus—soft lighting makes for dreamy newborn photos! (Speaking of which, if you’re looking for Warner Robins newborn photography, I’d love to chat about capturing those first sweet moments! Book Your Session Here.
Look, I know your focus is all on the baby right now, but let’s not forget about you!
Those first few weeks postpartum? Comfort is key. You’re healing, adjusting, and running on little sleep—the last thing you need is uncomfortable clothes.
With my first, I totally underestimated how much I’d live in comfy clothes. With my second, I made sure to have a postpartum-friendly wardrobe ready to go, which made a huge difference!
✔️ Nursing bras & loose tops (if you’re breastfeeding)
✔️ Soft, high-waisted leggings or pajama pants (because postpartum bellies need comfort!)
✔️ A cozy robe (perfect for those early days at home)
✔️ Comfy underwear (because postpartum recovery is real)
💡 Where to Shop: If you need some great postpartum-friendly pieces, check out Kindred Bravely—they have amazing nursing bras, leggings, and cozy loungewear designed just for new moms!
Mama, you are doing AMAZING. Preparing your home for a newborn is no small task, but taking these steps now will make those first few weeks so much easier.
