Some families just feel familiar in the best way, and the Franklins are that for me. They’re a returning client, which means we’ve already done the “what do we do with our hands” part of the relationship. We get to skip the awkward and go straight to the good stuff.
This fall family photos in Perry, GA was easy from the start. The light was soft, the air was finally comfortable, and the field gave us that warm, golden backdrop that makes everything feel a little more calm. No big production. Just a family showing up as themselves.

Why I love photographing returning families
There’s something different about the second (or third) time around. You’re not walking in cold. You know what the session feels like, you know I’m going to guide you, and your kids aren’t trying to figure out who this lady with a camera is.
Returning clients also tend to care less about “perfect” and more about what’s true. The way your people fit together right now. The new smiles, the longer legs, the missing baby teeth, the inside jokes. All the little changes that sneak up on you until you see them side by side.
That’s why I always tell families, these aren’t one-and-done photos. Family photography is kind of like a yearly check-in. Not forced. Just meaningful.

A fall evening in Perry, GA
We met up in a wide open spot with plenty of room to move. If you’ve got kids, you already know why that matters. Space makes everything feel lighter. Kids can wander a bit, parents can breathe, and nobody feels like they have to stand still and “act normal” for 60 minutes.
The Franklins came dressed in a way that felt like fall without screaming “fall.” Warm tones, soft textures, and outfits that made sense together without everyone matching. Mom’s floral dress was a total win for movement and softness. Dad’s warm-toned vest gave that cozy pop against the field. The kids looked comfortable, which is always my number one goal for them because comfortable kids = better real-life moments.

What we did during the session
We kept it simple and let it flow.
We started with the whole family while everyone was still fresh, then moved into smaller groupings so we could get a little bit of everything:
- Full family photos (a few looking at the camera, because you’ll want those)
- Mom with each kid
- Dad with the kids
- Sibling moments
- A little couple time, because you deserve at least one photo where you’re not in “manager mode”
And because they’ve done this before, we were able to lean into the in-between moments faster. The quick hugs. The kid giggles. The way everyone naturally fell into place without me having to talk a ton.
One of my favorite little parts of this session was the wildflower moment. Simple, sweet, and very “this is what childhood looks like.” Those end up being the photos that hit you later.

What to wear for fall family photos in Middle Georgia (the simple version)
If you’re planning fall family photos in Perry, GA and outfit planning is already making you tired, here’s the easiest way to start:
Pick 2–3 main colors and build from there
Cream, tan, muted green, soft blue, warm browns, soft florals. Keep it simple and it’ll all come together.
Add texture
Knit sweaters, lace, denim, layers, a vest, boots. Texture makes fall photos feel cozy without you doing anything extra.
Prioritize comfort for your kids
If they can’t move easily, it’s going to show in their faces. Let them be comfy.
And yes, when you book with me, you get help with this. Styling guidance, outfit support, and Client Closet options if you want them. You’re not doing this alone.

If you’re worried your kids won’t “behave” for photos
Your kids don’t need to “behave.” They need to be themselves.
I’ll guide you through it all in a way that feels natural. We’ll keep things moving, give kids breaks when they need them, and build the session around connection, not compliance.
